WARNING: Tool is designed to work on the left side. The bevel located on the tool stern prevents the tool stern from binding on the right side of the carriage.
Where do we get replacement parts? From us, though for the tool itself we would be surprised if you needed replacement parts. The unit is built to last. If you decide to change lathes you may have to contact us to ensure you have the correct stem length and size of base nut.
What speed do you turn at? Recommended to be under 1,000 rpm.
What should I do if the tool binds sliding from back to front? Make adjustments to ensure the tool is adjusted correctly for your lathe. When you set up your tool there are two easy steps. Step 1: Ensure that your tool tip lines up with the center of your vessel. Step 2: Loosen the two screws on the base stump and move your carriage up or down via the carriage stem until the tool slides smoothly on your steady rest. Then tighten screws.
What if the carriage isn't sliding as easy as I would like? We test each unit before it leaves our facility. However, it may go out of adjustment in transit or with handling. First gently squeeze carriage rods towards each other. If that is not the problem, gently pull apart. Try to move the slide back and forth. Put very light coating of beeswax on your rods if the first two strategies are not effective.
